Vidéo: rural India.

Fin de la leçon.

India is a fast-growing economy but its agriculture, the second in the world  is not mechanized (no machines). It's done manually as we can see in the video. In the video, we can see a lot of women working in the field. It produces more rice than any other countries, except China, it produces more wheat than the USA, and more sugar cane than any other countries, it is the second biggest/largest  producer of sugar cane in the world after Brazil.

The scene took place in the girls' restroom in their high school, where they were brushing their hair and chatting.It's an extract from a book, a novel by Laura K.an American writer. It was written in 2002.
Suddenly they heard a strange,phony, weird noise and got panicky, got scared and screamed, shouted.
Vocab : to be scared, afraid frightened
if we pick up all the words concerning the girls' fear, we can read that they sobbed, cried, swallowed
 when Mickeal was in front of them. They flinched. One of the girl grabbed her friend's elbow because she was scared. Both girls gasped, when they heard the bangles jangling.


The man is called Mickael and is holding a semi-automatic rifle because he wants to kill/ slaughter everybody in this school.
He was a misfit a weirdo, a freak who didn't adapt in this high school and decided he would kill innocent girls In fact, they don't have a name in the novel as if people were going to forget them straight away and they were just the symbols of innocent victims everywhere in America.
In the novel, he is described in a very strange way, with ugly stains on his shyny shirt and holding a blue and black gun. He is the important character in the story, not the girls.

   In this extract, we have a lot of information about Michael Patrick. He is wearing white shoes and looks shabby because he has a rash on his chin. His shirt has a filthy appareance/looks dirty, disgusting/gross because he is covered with blood stains. He is violent because he said in trigonometry at one of the girls that he was going to kill everybody because he hated them because he was the scapegoat. He is holding a big blue-black gun and he is threatening the other girls. The author's attention is to warn others about dangers of guns. By writing this story he is trying to denounce the actual situation in the US.

Info about the Second Amendment


Second Amendment

The Second Amendment, which is part of the Bill of Rights ,is made up of the first 10 Amendments of the constitution. There are now 27 Amendments to this day. 
The most important are: 
  • 13th (1865) End of slavery,  
  • 19th : rights to vote for women (1920).
  • 15th: right to vote for Blacks (1870),

The Capitol, the Congress (house of representatives) votes these amendments.

The Second  Amendment allowed people to protect themselves, at a time when the settlers were felt threatened by their neighbours and environment.

It was created in 1789 and ratified in 791 by Assembly of the time.

Ever since the birth of America , people have used guns to defend themselves. A the beginning of the settlement of the country, settlers from Europe had to defend themselves against the indians. They arrived in places where only the Indians lived.
The Plain Indians were warriors and there were massacres.
Settlers had to protect themselves, they carried guns and used them.
They developed a waggon syndrom. According to this syndrom, people people felt the need to organize in a circle and to shoot if they felt threatened by the Indians.
Later, after 9/11, the attack on the Twin Towers, people felt threatened, they were afraid of everything. So they started to carry guns, more than before. In Colorado today, people are allowed to bear arms in a holster in the street. This is quite recent then.

Brady campaign poster

This poster was created/done/ designed by an anti-gun lobby called Brady-campaign.
It was perhaps published online or on billboards.
I tackles the issue or deals with the issue of gun violence in the US.
Figures and percentages are shown, we can see…, representing the number of gun crimes in many developed countries, the highest figure is the US. It is in fact the place where there are the highest number of gun crimes,where the highest number of crimes are committed. where the highest number of people are killed by gun.
In the middle, we can see a gun covered with a US flag, which means that guns are part of the American culture. Just as religion and religion. Which is why The slogan, the motto is « God bless America » means, implies.
At the bottom, there is the motto of BC, a star and a wave, along with the name of the website.This BC is an anti-gun lobby, created by Jim Brady the former White House secretary who was shot during President reagan’s assassination attempt in March 1981 in Washington.

The aim of the poster is to denounce to expose the incredible number of gun crimes in the US compared with the other western nations.
I think it is very effective since it doesn’t show blood or gory images, and yet it criticizes the US gun control policy. BC is quite popular especially after mass murders. After Sandy Hook elementary school massacre, it got 100 000 more subscriptions/people joined the non-profit organization.
